"Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand." 2 Corinthians 1: 24

I found this verse in my morning devotions today. Paul, Timothy, and Silas felt they were to help the joy of the Christians in Corinth. That is one of a preacher's jobs that I never really realized before. I too can be a helper of joy and encourage others!

I like the last part of that verse where Paul says, "for by faith ye stand." Amen. What other way can we have lasting joy? We can only have real joy when we realize that what God says is true and base our faith upon it. Then we are not tossed to and fro, but we stand and can have real joy knowing what we stand upon is never going to fail.

Another verse I liked in this chapter is verse 4, which says, "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." The only way we can be a comfort or help to others is if we are getting alone with God and receiving comfort and help from Him. We can only give what we've received from Him!

Be joyful today! :)
